Our calculator uses the decarboxylation conversion formula: Total THC (mg) = [Amount of Flower (g) × 1000] × [THCA % / 100] × 0.877. The 0.877 factor accounts for the molecular weight change when THCA converts to THC through heat. We then divide the total THC by your infusion liquid volume to give you the potency per milliliter.

Decarboxylation is the process of heating cannabis to convert THCA (non-psychoactive) into THC (psychoactive). Raw cannabis contains mostly THCA, which won't get you high until it's heated. The 0.877 conversion factor accounts for the molecular weight lost during this process, giving you accurate THC content in your final infusion.

For beginners, start with 2.5-5mg of THC per dose. Experienced users may consume 10-20mg or more. Edibles take 30-90 minutes to take effect and can last 4-8 hours. Yes! This calculator works for both flower and concentrates. Simply enter the weight of your concentrate in grams and the THCA percentage from the lab report. Concentrates typically have much higher THCA percentages (60-90%) compared to flower (15-30%), resulting in much more potent infusions.

Most lab reports show THCA percentage because that's what's naturally present in cannabis flower before heating. THCA converts to THC when you decarboxylate (heat) your cannabis during the infusion process. Our calculator automatically applies the 0.877 conversion factor to give you the final THC content after decarboxylation.

Our calculator provides accurate estimates based on the standard decarboxylation conversion factor (0.877). However, actual potency can vary based on your decarboxylation temperature, time, and efficiency. For the most accurate results, decarboxylate at 240°F (115°C) for 30-40 minutes, and ensure even heating. Lab testing your final product is the only way to get exact potency measurements.
